AI coding tools aren’t the solution to the unfolding 'developer crisis’ – teams think they can boost productivity and delivery times, but end up bogged down by manual remediation and unsafe code
AI coding tools are not solving the developer crisis, according to new research from Harness. While 92% of developers noted increased code production, 59% experienced deployment issues, leading to more time spent on debugging and security fixes. The report highlights that AI tools create additional demands for code quality assurance and validation, ultimately reducing productivity. Additionally, developers face burnout due to increased manual tasks, with many working over 40 hours a week.
