A nationwide study in Germany, PRAIM, assessed the effectiveness of AI-supported mammography screening for breast cancer detection. From July 2021 to February 2023, screenings of 463,094 women showed that AI assistance improved the breast cancer detection rate by 17.6% (6.7 per 1,000 vs. 5.7 per 1,000) without increasing the recall rate. The study highlights AI's potential to enhance mammography accuracy and reduce workload for radiologists in real-world settings.
